What Do YOU Know?

Hi Kids! Everyone who was at the February Catholic Academy got the chance to play the game show about the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. I'm reprinting some of the questions here so you can quiz your parents or take the quiz again yourself. All of the answers are either true or false (and they're printed at the bottom of the quiz). Have fun!

1. The Anointing of the Sick is one of the seven sacraments.
2. The Anointing of the Sick is given only to those who are dying.
3. The Anointing of the Sick is only for Catholics.
4. Anyone can give the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick to anyone else.
5. If you are having surgery of any kind where you are getting a general anesthetic, you should receive this sacrament.
6. This sacrament is not found in the Bible.
7. The oil used for this sacrament is blessed by a bishop.
8. For this sacrament, a priest only anoints the forehead of the person receiving it.
9. You may receive this sacrament only once.
10. A person receiving this sacrament should receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation first, if at all possible.
11. Everyone who receives this sacrament gets healthy again.

Epiphany Pageant

Hi Kids! I know a lot of you were in the Epiphany Pageant recently so I thought it would be fun for you to see some photos of it. Did you know you can read more about the Three Wise Men in the Bible? Go to Matthew, chapter 2 to learn about their part in the amazing true story of the birth of Jesus.

Thanks to Mrs. Clarke and Mrs. Olsen for organizing everything, to all of the parents who helped, and especially to all of the kids who were part of this fun day!

A partridge in a ... what?

Did you ever wonder what the song, "The Twelve Days of Christmas," is all about? The whole song is a secret code!

To find out the answer, read the story on page 8 of your Family Formation Christmas Activity Packet.

Don't Forget!

While you're busy with all the Christmas cookies, gifts, and decorations, don't forget to keep working on your memory verse for December as part of your Advent preparations!

For Grades K-1, the memory verse is:
"My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord." Luke 1:46

This is the beginning of the Magnificat, the great prayer that Mary prayed when she visited Elizabeth. Look it up in your Bible and pray the whole prayer!

Grades 3-6 should memorize The Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary:

1. The Annunciation
2. The Visitation
3. The Birth of Jesus (Nativity)
4. The Presentation of the Child Jesus in the Temple
5. The Finding of Jesus in the Temple

The best way to learn these mysteries is to pray them! The Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary are an especially good prayer to prepare your heart for Jesus' coming at Christmas. Try to meditate carefully on each mystery while you pray that decade of the Rosary.

Hi Kids!

I got to go camping at this great place! Each day, we start with Mass and each night we end with Scripture and prayer. It reminds me about how great it is to praise the Lord with your family!
