Formation

On-going faith formation and education allows families to develop a deeper understanding of their Catholic Faith, and to be supported in living out their faith in our culture. Families study the faith together in programs designed to equip the parents to be the primary teachers of their children. Education is supported by other formation opportunities such as missions, conferences, audio and video tapes, Days of Recollection, and retreats.

Teaching Authority

Go, therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold I am with you always, until the end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20

The teaching authority of the Church comes directly from the Lord at His Ascension. He commissioned the apostles to go to the whole world and teach what He had commanded them.

The Holy Spirit was given to the disciples at Pentecost, empowering them to fulfill the Lord's command. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth who has guided and directed the Church since the time of Jesus.

Lay Ministry

Lay ministry is a hallmark of the parish as members contribute their various gifts and talents to serve the needs of the community. Servant leadership helps to encourage, develop and guide the many varied gifts within the community. Several ministries are directed toward the larger Church to meet the needs of other individuals, programs and faith communities.

Home Education Ministry

The Church of Saint Paul Home Education Ministry has been formed for the purposes of:

  • Promoting Christian values and character development.
  • Supplementing curriculum areas that are more difficult to provide in a home setting, such as team activities and group interaction.
  • Providing positive social opportunities for children of our parish who are educated at home.
