Matrimony

The covenant of two baptized persons whereby the two become one flesh in Christ.

"So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, no human being must separate." (Matthew 19:6)

"God blessed them, saying to them: 'Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and all the living things that move on the earth.'" (Genesis 1:28)

Preparing to Receive.

At the Church of Saint Paul we require an extensive preparation including studying the sacramentality of marriage; personality inventories, retreats; classes in Natural Family Planning and the planning of the marriage liturgy.

Celebrate

The sacrament is conferred during the celebration of the Eucharist if both are Catholic with a priest presiding, or in a celebration of the Word with a deacon presiding. The couple confers the sacrament to each other and this is witnessed by the Church's minister.
