Penance

The sacrament that brings forgiveness of personal sin and reconciliation with God and the members of the Church.

"And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, 'Receive the holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.' " (John 20:22-23)

Preparing to Receive.

Children attend classes as part of their children's education that prepare them specifically to receive this sacrament.

Adults attend the Instructions in the Catholic Faith classes to learn about the sacrament.

Celebrate

Opportunities for confession include:

Mondays at 8:15 AM and 5:30 PM for individual confessions in the Chapel.

Penance services are held four times a year with several priests, which involves a communal preparation, examination of conscience and act of contrition followed by individual confession, absolution and penance.

Children preparing for First Communion receive the sacrament prior to their First Communion.
