Handmaidens aims to help 4-6th grade young ladies to grow in friendship with each other and learn how they can follow the example of our Blessed Mother as a Handmaiden of the Lord. This group meets monthly and works to promote virtue, grace, and etiquette.
Meetings consist of a speaker, dessert, a saint teaching, and learning a feminine art. Tea is frequently part of the meetings and a teaching handout is sent home to prompt further discussion with parents. Occasionally, the Handmaidens serve through off-site service projects.
Meets once a month on Thursdays (7-8:30 p.m.)
Cost: $25/girl ($50 family max)

Handmaiden Mentors are invited to continue their involvement in the Handmaidens ministry by serving the 4th - 6th grade Handmaidens of the Lord at the monthly meetings. Plus, the Mentors will dive deeper into the virtue of the month and join together for prayer and praise/worship. Since the focus is service, there is no fee to be part of Handmaiden Mentors. Below is the description of the two age levels. Your daughter will automatically be placed in the correct level according to her grade.
Servants Hands is for 7th and 8th graders. They learn leadership skills as they serve the Handmaidens by leading a game each month, leading praise and worship, presenting a skit, and become role models for the younger girls. Dawn Kelly is the leader of this group.
Vessels of Mary is for 9th -12 graders. They help with the feminine art, lead prayer groups, mentor Servants Hands in skits and music for the Handmaidens, and continue to be role models for the younger girls. Other opportunities for leadership will be offered throughout the year. Jeanette Burke and Jackie Barten are the leaders of this group.
Note: Those who have participated in at least one year of Handmaidens as a 4th-6th grader are invited to serve in the Handmaidens Mentors ministry. If you have questions, please contact Becky Brounstein.
